Meet and greet in Roswell

Jonathan here! Just wanted to let everyone know there will be a small meet and greet at Odyssey Aquatics in Roswell for anyone who wants to stop by. Those who enjoy the hobby, corals, saltwater and freshwater fish and want to stop by and say hi, please do! Between 10 AM and 3 PM Saturday February 21st at 997 Mansell Rd. Ste B. Swap hobbyists techniques. Talk about what you use for filters, pumps, lights, what fish or coral you raise, etc.

The small store is still undergoing a build out, but I wanted to meet the locals and introduce myself. Family oriented, fish and coral oriented, and fun! Hope to some of you there!

Hi Jonathan! I am the Pet Shop Liaison for AAAA. I will try to work your Meet and Greet into my schedule.

Illegal mystery snails?!

So I've been out of the hobby for 6 years (I was renting a house and wasn't allowed to have aquariums) bought a house last year and I'm starting to get back into it, I am in shock that mystery snails are now illegal!!! I went to my local pet store and asked when they were going to get some mystery snails and the lady told me they are illegal! Crazy!

Welcome back to the hobby Cory! Unfortunately/fortunately, in the past many years, the state of Georgia has changed the rules for a lot of common critters. The most common of which are: Assassin snails, Mystery/Apple Snails, Duckweed, and Marimo Moss balls, which have all been made illegal.

What made these organisms popular in the hobby is also why they are illegal, since they could tolerate a wide range of parameters and outcompeted their tankmates, they became popular to the point that people began releasing them into the wild. They were frequently being released, both intentionally and unintentionally, leading to the same success in wild as they did in captivity, but devastating the local ecosystems in the process.

If you ask me, renting an entire house and still not being able to have even one Aquarium should also be illegal! What are you even supposed to do with all of the rooms in the house if you don't have any aquariums to fill them with?!!

can someone tell me what these creatures are? if bad, how i can get them kill?

New here and looking for possible help.

Hi from the Truist park area!!

Jonathan here. I have a 120g ustom built tank. I upgraded from a75g that was a thriving reef tank with over a dozen fish, invertebrates, and maybe 30 to 40 coral. Unfortunately I lost most of the life when I went into the hospital for emergency surgery and couldn't get reliable help. So starting over. I also wanted to start up a small quaint aquatic store for fresh and saltwater fish, etc. In the Roswell area right before getting sick...Prior to the hospital I procured a space, custom stands for over 15 to 20 tanks, an RO system, etc. Im almost ready to open but with the hospital stay and unreliable help its fizzling out.

So im reaching out here to see if anyone is interested in helping out with final plumbing, touch ups, etc. for Odyssey Aquatics. Or just even helping out with…
