Can anyone help ID this?
Everything was fine on Tuesday but on Wednesday my water started getting cloudy. By Wed night, it was horrible.
I was starting a water change and realized it is alive... whatever IT is.
I've been feeding vinegar eels to baby Corey. I also had pond snails come in on some plants.
It seems like way too much of whatever - so what do I do (beyond water changes)?

Hello, QuadA friends== I want to thank Alex Pourreau for responding to my query of yesterday. While he has given good advice about water changes it still leaves open the question about the use of prescription antibiotics to treat fish infections. It is difficult to diagnose the cause of infections without killing the fish and plating out the lesion on agar medium. Most or all of us lack the facilities for that unless we work in a micro lab. Short of that one has to make an educated guess about cause and treatment. We all have experienced Ich and know its signs, symptoms, and treatment with RidIch+, but if it is not Ich I have a preference to use antibiotics. Concerning antifungals fluconazole is a generic, it's inexpensive and selectively toxic for fungus. So using it for empirical treatment is generally safe bc fish, unlike fungus, lack ergosterol in theiβ¦
Sorry for not being present on here for a little while. While yes, a laboratory can be very helpful with diagnosing diseases with verifiable test results, common aquarium fish diseases tend to be easily discernable form one-another for the most part. Ich is a protozoan disease that manifests in a very recognizable manner that is easy enough to distinguish from Epistylis and Velvet with a good eye and knowing what to look for. Aquatic bacterial diseases are almost always Gram-negative bacteria, and for that reason, most bacterial diseases can generally be treated with the same types of antibiotics along side frequent water changes and keeping a lowered water temperature (to slow down the bacterium life cycle). All protozoan and bacterial diseases can be managed to some degree with a UV sterilizer to kill any pathogens in the water that passes through the sterilizer. This will not directly treat the fish, but will help reduce the spread of the disease and limit the harm done by an overgrowth of harmful bacteria. I want to order fluconazole to treat one of my Angelfish. It developed a large lesion on its ventral area. I treated it with leftover ampicillin but I believe it has a fungal infection and want to add fluconazole to the water. I can buy fluconazole through Petco by sending a prescription to their clearing office by postal mail in Oregon. I fear that the time that requires may extend into a week or so before I receive the fluconazole tablets. That may be too late for my current "patient", but is useful to keep for future use. What experience to aquarist friends have in ordering antibiotics? PS my daughter is a veterinarian so I can receive a script from her for this common antifungal agent. Fungal infections rarely cause lesions, and you will know if it is a fungal infection in an instant simply by seeing the fuzzy appearance of a fungus. This sounds more like a bacterial infection, with the best course of treatment being frequent water changes and bacterial antibiotics to treat the root cause. Be careful of overdosing and mixing medications, as more is almost never better. If your tank has any catfish, loaches, or invertebrates, avoid using copper-based medications and certain types of antibiotics that often harm scaleless fish and invertebrates.

What's on the blue portion near the end of the video seems to be water hydras, more specifically, starved hydras which have retracted due to a lack of available food, and likely end up dying and drifting off in the current. They can easily hitch a ride into your tank from being on a plant, but getting rid of them can be a pain if they manage to take root as an infestation.
