Neon Tetras spawning & Siamese Algae Eaters babies!

My neon tetras have recently spawned a couple times so I've been watching them closely to collect eggs. While watching, I noticed I have baby Siamese Algae Eaters in my tank! I adopted a group of 7 SAE during COVID - in 2020 and have never seen anything that suggested breeding behavior before. I didn't think it was even possible in a home aquarium.

Anyone have tips?

Part of me wants to move them to a baby tank but on the other hand - they are growing in a community tank on their own so I think I should leave them where they are. The tank is heavily planted so it may prove to catch them anyway.

As far as breeding SAE's goes, it's never been truly done in intentionally, but every now and then a rare accidental occurrence has been stated in home aquaria, props to you for doing who-knows-what to manage a captive spawn without even knowing you did who-knows-what correctly!

Since very little is known about raising SAE in home aquaria, I'd suggest leaving them in there as long as there aren't any predatory fish or aggressive cichlids since the presence of biofilm and algae from the established birth tank would most likely be best for them to graze upon.

Aquarium Photography

I want to take pictures of fish and the egg development cycle of my fish that breed. Anyone have recommendations on macro lense or adapters for my phone or PC?

TIA!!

Plant-Only Tank Question

I want to set up a high-tech tank to grow plants only. Mainly I want it for epiphytes (or more accurately, rheophytes, I rekkun) to use in a planned Hillstream Loach 50G tank w/a manifold system such as what Martin Thoene designed years ago & is shown on https://www.loaches.com/articles/river-tank-manifold-design. Most of the tank will, naturally, be rocks & hidey holes/caves, but I can't imagine having no plants & even hope to have a back "ledge" toward the top w/something like dwarf sag & maybe even some hairgrass in a very small area in front. Or not, if that doesn't work.

I have the usuals like Java ferns (several varieties) & moss, other mosses, various anubias & buces, but not as many as I'd like or even need at the moment. I am looking forward to the upcoming auction in hopes of finding more, but for now I'm asking if it…

Glad to see someone is also RR-ing. I didn't think anyone paid attention when I mentioned it in this forum. Good luck with the co2. Sorry, I don't have experience in that.

heaters and thermometers

Does any member have experience with the hygger 150W Submersible Aquarium Heater with Digital Temperature Controller, Mini Fish Tank Heater for 20–30 Gallon Tanks. I am disappointed with my Eheim Jager heaters bc they are difficult to calibrate.

Also, what are members recommendations for a good quality aquarium thermometer. The cheap $5 digital thermometers don't seem to last long and need frequent battery changes.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions.

Have you considered a temp controller like an inkbird? The biggest problem with cheap heaters is they can get stuck but if there no power due to the controller that's not possible. It makes the worry go away and you can buy the cheapest heaters you can find
