pop-eye in cherry barb?

I purchased and added 6 cherry barbs several days ago. The next day I noticed one had a bulging eye that was white, and 3 days later the other eye is also affected, and though it's hard to tell it seems as if he/she is blind. No sign in the other fish. Trauma, infection, contagious to other fish? Water tests are normal, pH 6.4, soft water, other fish fine.

Pop-eye is usually caused by one of three things, either poor water quality, diseases, or aggression from other fish. The true cause is not easy to determine in most cases and sometimes we think it's pop eye when it really isn't. Having a photo may help others help you figure out what it truly is.
